Who we help / Field crews

Field crews

Water, storm and remote crews often work far from base, in rough weather, and on call when everyone else is inside.

A shift can run long, coverage can drop out, and home can feel a long way off.

People still need a simple way to say they are not OK, without an app, a login or a trip back to the depot.

What a reply looks like

Hi Rawiri, how are you going out there this week? Reply Yes if you're OK, or No if you need support

No. It's been a long swing and I'm running on empty.

Thanks for telling us, Rawiri. Someone from the support team will be in touch soon. Always remember, you are never alone.

Common pressures in Field crews

  • Storm callouts and after-hours faults, often once the rest of the town is inside.
  • Remote sites, patchy coverage, and a long drive back to the depot.
  • Small crews, so one person down changes the next shift.
  • Lone work on a site, with nobody nearby to notice a hard week.

How teams use it

A Monday check-in goes out before the week’s callouts. After a storm, the same text goes once crews are stood down, so a No is triaged before the next shift. That is part of keeping the outage response going: the people covering it stay connected to support.

After triage

More than a text message: what happens after someone asks for help

  1. 1

    Check-in sent

The business writes its own check-in text and sends it to staff.

  2. 2

    Instant reply and triage

When someone replies 'No', the system sends a warm reply straight away and flags them for support.

  3. 3

    Professional support notified

The business's professional support or EAP gets an email with the person's name, mobile number, the question asked and their answer.

  4. 4

    The full story, in confidence

Support signs in and opens the person's profile to see their history.

  5. 5

A conversation that captures what matters

Support records the call in the contact section, with the person's name if they agree or anonymously if not.

  6. 6

    A clear plan

Support creates a support action with guidance for the person and books a follow-up call.

  7. 7

No one falls through the cracks

If a follow-up isn't updated in time, the system escalates and alerts the business admin to assign someone else. The admin is only told the callback is overdue, never the person's details.
